What you will learn:

Intro to clay making full process

Intro of difference glaze and under glaze

Usage of different pottery tools, including rolling pin, scrapper, hollowing tools etc.

Techniques to cover:

Slab making techniques- preparation, cutting and thickness control

Moulding and hollowing
-
Scoring and attaching
-
Assembly of two- parts mould to completion and cleaning exterior

Sculpting/ pinching and texture creating details for finishing touches

Underglaze painting
Session Outline:
1. Introduction (20 mins) and practice creating hollow moon sculpture (45 mins)
2. Designing concave and convex details and linework to create moon texture (45 mins)
3. Inspiration of using contrast and bold colour to paint your artwork (40 mins)

More about the Teacher
Vivian graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from Baptist University Hong Kong and has been engaged in creating and teaching ceramics in Hong Kong and Singapore. Her work, The Moon by The Sea since 2014. is inspired by moonlit seascapes, and the pursuit of inner peace through her pottery work and making process.
