Hand-building Course
In this exciting course, children will dive into the world of pottery, mastering fun techniques like pinching, coiling and modelling. They'll play with clay and learn to shape it into amazing three-dimensional forms and by the end of the course, each child will have their very own handmade pieces—both functional and decorative—to take home and show off. We’ll also educate them about materials they use and the processes their pottery goes through like their glazing and firing.

Outline:
Session 1: Making a Leaf Dish
You will learn: Texture exploration, simple sculpting and sticking techniques

Session 2: A Matching Cup and Saucer
You will learn: Pinching with shape exercises
​
Session 3: Making a Self-Portrait Pot
You will learn: Continuity of pinching and simple coiling

Session 4: Making a Sausage-Dog Pencil Case
You will learn: Structural coiling and shaping
​
Session 5: Making a Mushroom House
You will combine all the techniques you have learnt!

Session 6: Glazing and adding colour to all the piece
